France begins applying new levy on ultra-fast fashion retailers

France is implementing a national levy this week on ultra-fast fashion retailers like Shein, Temu and AliExpress. The fee per item is set to reach nearly 20 euros by 2030. The policy is only now taking effect so its environmental and economic impact has not been measured. Rival brands H&M and Zara are exempt from the fee.
